Canada’s rebadged Ford Pinto!

It wasn’t just Canada, they were available here too! But they’ve pretty much all rusted back into the earth or exploded by now.

Burnt-out brake light on the left or turn signal on the right?
Asking for a friend.

Insert “why not both meme”
It was a signal light though

Yeah, you are right. I think the Bobcat badge ran longer up here though (from Wikipedia)

Were you tempted to tap it in the rear to see whether its reputation was well-earned?

This is so eccentric, it almost HAS to be a rich person just laying low. The cost and effort to keep one of these running all these years...
“Son, before you leave Doha, you must choose between the Bugatti and the 2 bedroom flat...or the Pinto and the 30-acre estate home.”

I think it is a DD too. We don't live in a salt region, so it's possible. But yeah.... It's like perfectly maintaining a new Kia Rio until 2060

Perfect candidate for #kinja'd meme

Bobcats in the states all had larger rear hatch glass, and larger tail lights on the earlier years.

“ It wasn’t just Canada, they were available here too!”
Where is your ‘here’?

I’m right over here! Can’t you see me waving at you?

My aunt and uncle bought one of these new, got into a crash after a month with like 90% retail value repair costs and the insurance company wouldn't total it off. They had to wait months for it to be repaired because parts weren't available.

God that's awful. I can't imagine it lasted long after all that

The fact it’s not on collector plate!

Oh I never thought about aircare. My truck failed a few times

Wow, that’s terrible!

Banned to recesses of our minds. The old man had a constant battle, I think the Taurus almost got 3rd striked one year LOL.

Yiiiiikes. Aircare was always a ritual for me. Trying to prep for it

When I was a kid, we shared an alley/lane with a friend’s grandparents
, who at the time had a late model (~1988) Fleetwood in yellow on yellow, and a Bobcat woody wagon. Even then the Bobcat was something unusual, and it was pristine, like a new car. It wasn’t to last forever, as IIRC someone ran a stop light and t-boned it, destroying the car. A woody today would be a real unicorn.

Yeah, Canada got the Bobcat one year earlier than the US.

And, now, I’ll have “Love that Bobcat, Love that Bobcat!” stuck in my head all week.
Spunky!
Love that Bobcat indeed...
